What the solfeggio frequencies are

The modern solfeggio frequencies (396, 417, 528, 639, 741, and 852 Hz) were popularized in the 1990s, loosely tied to a medieval hymn whose lines gave us the names do, re, mi. The hymn itself does not specify frequencies; those were added much later.

Does 528 Hz repair DNA?

No. That claim traces back to a misreading and has no support in biology. A few small studies have looked at 528 Hz music and stress, with interesting but very limited results. If the tone relaxes you, enjoy it for that.

Questions

What is 528 Hz good for?

Some people find it relaxing. There is no good evidence of health effects.

Is 528 Hz the same as the note C?

Close. In standard tuning, C5 is about 523 Hz, so 528 Hz is slightly sharp of C.
