Wind chimes

Updated 22 October 2026

Wind chimes turn the wind into music. These are real metal chimes, from one of the most liked wind chime recordings on Freesound, played from random points with soft crossfades so the pattern never repeats.

Why chimes sound good together

Many chimes are tuned to a pentatonic scale, five notes with no clashing intervals. Any combination sounds pleasant, which is perfect for an instrument played by the wind.

Wind chimes for sleep?

Chimes are lovely for relaxing, but each one is a little event. For sleep, keep them very low or turn them off after you wind down.
